How to use

Thoroughly wash and decontaminate the vehicle before polishing.

Inspect the paint and carry out a test section to determine the least aggressive pad-and-compound combination capable of achieving the required correction.

Fit ADBL Roller Hard Cut 50 mm securely and centrally to the appropriate backing plate on your compatible DA or rotary polishing machine.

Apply a small amount of your chosen cutting or polishing compound to the pad.

Position the pad correctly against the paint before starting the machine.

Work a small section at a time using controlled movements and an appropriate machine speed. Avoid excessive pressure and pay particular attention to panel edges, body lines and surrounding trim.

Once the polishing cycle is complete, remove the compound residue with a clean microfibre towel and inspect the corrected area under suitable lighting.

Clean the pad frequently during use to remove accumulated compound and paint residue.

If the cutting stage leaves haze or micro-marring, follow with a less aggressive 50 mm polishing or finishing pad and an appropriate compound.

The 50 mm Roller Hard Cut fills an important gap in a machine-polishing setup. A 30 mm pad gives you exceptional precision, but it can become unnecessarily slow when the working area is slightly larger. A 75 mm pad covers more ground but may still be too large for some intricate sections. The 50 mm version sits neatly between the two.

That makes it useful for areas where you need genuine corrective ability without sacrificing control.

Don’t automatically reach for Hard Cut simply because you’re working on a small area, though. Pad size and pad aggressiveness are two separate decisions. If the defects are relatively minor, one of ADBL’s less aggressive 50 mm pads may be the better starting point.

Where substantial correction is genuinely required, pairing Roller Hard Cut with a dedicated cutting compound such as ADBL Hard Cut gives you a logical heavy-correction combination.

As always, carry out a test section first. Paint systems vary considerably in hardness, and the combination that works beautifully on one vehicle may be unnecessarily aggressive on another.

Use compound sparingly. The 50 mm pad has a much smaller working surface than a conventional 125 mm pad, so it requires correspondingly less product. Overloading the foam will quickly reduce its effectiveness.

Regular pad cleaning is particularly important during heavy correction. As removed paint and spent compound accumulate within the foam, cutting behaviour changes and polishing performance becomes less consistent.

Also keep an eye on heat. Small pads are often used on equally small or complex painted areas. Don’t repeatedly polish the same confined section in an attempt to eliminate a defect without periodically inspecting the surface and allowing heat to dissipate.

For multi-stage correction, you can remain within the same compact format by moving from Roller Hard Cut to ADBL’s less aggressive 50 mm Roller pads. This lets you refine the corrected area without trying to squeeze a larger polishing pad back into the same restricted space.
