Its tiny 30 mm working size allows you to bring machine correction into sections of a vehicle where conventional polishing pads simply cannot operate effectively.

How to use

Thoroughly clean and decontaminate the area before machine polishing.

Inspect the paint and carry out a test section to determine whether a heavy-cut combination is actually required.

Fit the ADBL Roller Hard Cut 30 mm securely and centrally to the appropriate backing plate and compatible polishing machine.

Apply a small amount of your chosen polishing compound to the pad. Because the working surface is only 30 mm, considerably less compound is required than with a conventional full-size polishing pad.

Position the pad correctly against the paint before starting the machine.

Work the required area using controlled movements and appropriate machine speed and pressure. Pay particular attention to panel edges, body lines and neighbouring trim when working in confined spaces.

Once the polishing cycle is complete, wipe away the compound residue with a clean microfibre and inspect the corrected area under suitable lighting.

Clean the pad regularly during use to remove spent compound and paint residue.

If the heavy-cut stage leaves haze or micro-marring behind, follow with a less aggressive 30 mm polishing or finishing pad and suitable compound.

The biggest advantage of Roller Hard Cut 30 mm isn’t simply that it’s small. It’s that it allows proper machine correction in areas that would otherwise be extremely difficult to reach with a conventional polishing setup.

Think around intricate bumper sections, narrow painted areas and complicated curves rather than broad doors, bonnets and roofs. For those larger surfaces, a conventional 75 mm, 125 mm or 150 mm setup will generally be considerably more efficient.

Precision also means you need to pay more attention to your surroundings. When working in a confined area, the backing plate, machine body and pad may all be operating close to trim, panel edges or adjacent surfaces. Mask vulnerable areas where appropriate and make sure you have adequate clearance before starting the machine.

Don’t assume that every tight area needs the Hard Cut pad either. As always with paint correction, start with the least aggressive combination likely to achieve the required result.

If heavier correction genuinely is necessary, pair Roller Hard Cut with an appropriate cutting compound. Within the ADBL range, ADBL Hard Cut provides the obvious heavy-correction combination.

Remember that the pad is only 30 mm. You need far less compound than you would use on a conventional 125 mm polishing pad. Overloading such a small pad will quickly saturate the foam and make the polishing process unnecessarily messy.

Pad cleaning is particularly important at this size. With such a small working surface, spent compound and removed paint residue can accumulate rapidly. Clean or change the pad frequently to maintain consistent cutting performance.

For a multi-stage correction, ADBL also offers 30 mm Roller Polish and Roller Soft Polish pads. This means you can begin with Hard Cut where necessary and then progressively refine the same intricate area without switching back to an oversized polishing pad.
