Description
GYEON Q²M Rotary Wool Heavy Cut is an aggressive wool polishing pad designed for intensive paint correction with a rotary polishing machine.
Sitting at the maximum-cut end of GYEON’s rotary wool system, Heavy Cut is intended for situations where substantial defect removal is required and a conventional foam polishing combination may not provide sufficient cutting efficiency.
Its wool construction delivers the mechanical cutting action needed to tackle severe swirl marks, scratches, oxidation and other significant paint defects, making it particularly useful during the initial correction stage on harder or heavily weathered paint systems.
For maximum correction, Q²M Rotary Wool Heavy Cut can be paired with GYEON Q²M Compound+ REDEFINED before progressing to less aggressive polishing combinations as the finish improves.
This is a specialist correction pad rather than an all-purpose polishing solution. The combination of wool, an aggressive compound and rotary machine can remove defects quickly, but it also demands careful technique, regular inspection and an understanding of the paint system being corrected.
Where that level of cut isn’t required, Q²M Rotary Wool Cut or one of GYEON’s foam pads provides a more progressive alternative.
Prestige Detailing Tips
- Don’t start with maximum aggression by default. Carry out a test section and use Q²M Rotary Wool Heavy Cut only when the defects genuinely require this level of correction.
- For maximum cutting performance, pair the pad with GYEON Q²M Compound+ REDEFINED.
- If Q²M Rotary Wool Cut achieves sufficient correction, use the less aggressive option rather than removing more clear coat than necessary.
- Use only with a compatible rotary polishing machine and appropriately sized backing plate.
- Keep the wool fibres clean and open. Frequently remove spent compound and paint residue rather than allowing the pad to become clogged.
- Avoid excessive product. Overloading wool with compound can reduce cutting consistency and make the polishing process unnecessarily messy.
- Monitor panel temperature carefully. Rotary polishing can generate heat rapidly, particularly when combined with an aggressive pad and compound.
- Exercise particular caution around edges, sharp body lines, repainted areas and anywhere paint thickness may be reduced.
- Expect to refine after heavy cutting. An aggressive wool stage may leave haze, holograms or other polishing marks that require a finer foam pad and polish to restore maximum clarity and gloss.
- Inspect the paint under suitable lighting after each stage rather than assuming the defects have been safely removed.
- Once correction and refinement are complete, use GYEON Q²M Prep to remove polishing oils before applying ceramic coating or another compatible protection.
- Our paint correction guide covers the wider preparation and correction process.
Which GYEON cutting pad should you choose?
Rotary Wool Heavy Cut → maximum correction for severe defects
Rotary Wool Cut → strong wool correction with greater versatility
HeavyCut foam → aggressive correction with a foam pad
Cut foam → strong, more progressive general correction
The correct choice depends on the severity of the defects, paint system, machine and experience of the operator. Maximum cutting power should solve a specific problem rather than simply be the default starting point.
