ADBL Blackouter is a water-based exterior plastic dressing designed to restore the deep colour and appearance of faded, dull and weathered unpainted trim.

Ideal for exterior plastics that have gradually turned grey or lost their original richness, Blackouter uses organosilicon polymers to create a deep darkening effect with a natural satin finish. Rather than leaving trim excessively shiny or greasy-looking, it helps restore a darker, cleaner and more factory-like appearance.

Its milky consistency also makes the product easy to spread evenly across textured and irregular plastic surfaces, while the finished effect can remain visible for up to several weeks.

How to use

For the best results, begin by thoroughly cleaning the exterior plastic to remove dirt, traffic film, old dressing residue and other contamination.

Allow the surface to dry completely.

Shake ADBL Blackouter before use.

Apply a small amount of product to a suitable foam or microfibre applicator and spread it evenly across the unpainted exterior plastic.

Work methodically to ensure consistent coverage, particularly on heavily textured trim.

Allow the product to dry.

ADBL states that Blackouter reaches its full durability approximately 24 hours after application, so avoid unnecessarily exposing the treated surfaces to water during this initial period.

Prestige Detailing Tip

Preparation makes a major difference to both the appearance and durability of a trim dressing.

If an exterior plastic looks faded, don’t immediately apply Blackouter over it.

First make sure what you’re seeing really is faded plastic rather than a combination of embedded dirt, traffic film and residue from previously applied dressings.

Thoroughly clean the trim using an appropriate cleaner and detailing brush, rinse or wipe away the contamination and allow the surface to dry completely.

Only then apply Blackouter.

For heavily faded plastics, we’d also recommend treating a small section first. This allows you to see how strongly the product darkens that particular material before completing the rest of the vehicle.

Apply thin, even coverage rather than saturating the plastic. More product doesn’t necessarily produce a better finish.

Finally, give Blackouter time to cure. ADBL states that full durability is reached approximately 24 hours after application, so keeping the treated trim dry during this initial period will help you get the best from the product.
