How to use

Begin by thoroughly vacuuming the leather, particularly around seams, seat joins and crevices.

Inspect the upholstery before proceeding.

Avoid powered cleaning on leather that is cracked, peeling, badly worn, freshly repaired or otherwise compromised.

Apply a suitable leather cleaner such as ADBL Leather Cleaner to the working area or brush according to the cleaner’s instructions.

Attach ADBL Leather Twister securely to either:

• a compatible drill-driver, or
• a rotary polishing machine with an M14 thread.

Work on a manageable section of leather at a time.

Use a low, controlled operating speed and allow the bristles to provide the agitation.

Avoid excessive downward pressure.

Keep the brush controlled and moving rather than holding it aggressively against one area.

Once the dirt has been loosened, use a clean microfibre such as ADBL LEA to collect the dirty cleaning solution and contamination.

Inspect the surface and repeat only where necessary.

For seams, piping, bolsters, tight corners and other areas where a 100 mm powered brush would be difficult to control, switch to a smaller hand brush such as ADBL Ther.

Once cleaning is complete, allow the leather to dry before moving on to your chosen conditioning or maintenance stage.

The main advantage of Leather Twister is speed — not aggression.

Powered brushes can make leather cleaning substantially more efficient, but that doesn’t mean you should use more speed or pressure than you would when cleaning manually.

The objective is simply to let the rotating bristles perform the repetitive agitation for you.

We’d generally reserve the 100 mm Leather Twister for larger, sound sections of leather, such as:

Seat bases → backrests → larger flat leather panels

Then switch to ADBL Ther for:

Seams → piping → bolsters → tight corners → intricate sections

This gives you the efficiency of powered cleaning without trying to force a relatively large rotating brush into areas where a hand tool gives you better control.

We’d also pay close attention to the condition of the leather before starting.

Powered agitation isn’t something we’d automatically introduce to cracked, peeling, badly worn or questionable upholstery.

If you’re unsure about the integrity of a particular section, clean it manually.

There’s also an important distinction between Leather Twister and ADBL’s textile Twister brushes.

Leather Twister is specifically designed around leather upholstery. Don’t choose a brush simply because it looks similar — bristle characteristics matter when you’re working on different materials.
