Description
ADBL Dirt Blocker is a car wash bucket grit separator designed to keep the dirt you remove from your vehicle exactly where you want it – at the bottom of your bucket and away from your wash mitt.
During a contact wash, dirt and grit picked up by your mitt can easily find their way back onto the paintwork. ADBL Dirt Blocker helps break that cycle. Its specially designed honeycomb structure separates your wash mitt or sponge from contamination that has settled at the bottom of the bucket, reducing the likelihood of picking that dirt back up.
The upper surface can also be used to gently rub your mitt or sponge during rinsing, helping release trapped contamination before you make another pass across the vehicle.
Simple? Absolutely. But when you’re trying to minimise wash-induced swirls and scratches, it’s one of the most useful additions you can make to your car-washing setup.
Perfect if…
- You keep finding new swirl marks even though you’re careful when washing your car – contaminated wash media can be one of the culprits.
- Your wash water becomes filthy halfway through the job – Dirt Blocker helps keep settled contamination away from your mitt.
- You want to adopt a proper two-bucket safe-wash method – use a Dirt Blocker in your rinse and wash buckets for an even safer setup.
- You regularly wash dark-coloured or swirl-prone paintwork – reducing unnecessary contact with trapped grit becomes particularly important on finishes where defects are highly visible.
- You want to rinse your mitt more effectively between panels – rub it gently against the Dirt Blocker to help release dirt trapped within the fibres.
- You’re building your first proper detailing wash kit – a grit separator is a simple, reusable upgrade that can improve your wash technique every time you clean the car.
Why choose ADBL Dirt Blocker?
- Helps reduce wash-induced scratches – keeps your wash media separated from dirt collected at the bottom of the bucket.
- Honeycomb construction – helps prevent your mitt or sponge from reaching settled contamination.
- Built-in agitation surface – allows you to gently rub your wash mitt or sponge against the separator while rinsing.
- Ideal for two-bucket washing – particularly effective when combined with separate wash and rinse buckets.
- Fits 20-litre detailing buckets – designed to integrate easily into a proper detailing wash setup.
- Durable construction – manufactured from high-quality, hard-wearing plastic.
- Reusable – rinse it thoroughly after washing and it’s ready for your next detailing session.
How to use
Place an ADBL Dirt Blocker securely at the bottom of your detailing bucket before adding water.
For the safest setup, we recommend using a two-bucket wash system:
- Fill your wash bucket with clean water and your chosen car shampoo.
- Fill a separate rinse bucket with clean water only.
- Fit an ADBL Dirt Blocker into the bottom of each bucket.
- Load your wash mitt with shampoo solution and wash one section of the vehicle.
- Before returning to the shampoo bucket, rinse the dirty mitt thoroughly in the rinse bucket.
- Gently rub the mitt against the Dirt Blocker to help release trapped dirt and grit.
- Once rinsed, return the mitt to the shampoo bucket and continue washing.
- Repeat the process panel by panel.
Once you’ve finished, remove the Dirt Blockers and thoroughly rinse both the separators and buckets before allowing them to dry.

Prestige Detailing Tip
One Dirt Blocker is good. Two are better.
For a proper two-bucket safe-wash system, place one Dirt Blocker in your shampoo bucket and another in your rinse bucket.
After washing a section of the vehicle, don’t immediately put your dirty mitt back into the shampoo solution. Rinse it thoroughly in your Splushy bucket first, gently working it against the Dirt Blocker to release contamination.
Only then should the mitt go back into your Washy bucket.
This helps prevent your shampoo bucket from gradually turning into a container full of the very dirt you’re trying to remove from the car.
And remember: the Dirt Blocker reduces risk – it doesn’t make poor washing technique harmless. Always work from the cleaner upper areas of the vehicle downwards, use plenty of lubrication and never aggressively scrub the paint.
